BLCKTEC 410: How to check your LED readiness lights for emissions testing

Purpose

To guide you on where you can check your LED readiness lights for emissions testing using the red, yellow, and green LED lights on the BLCKTEC 410.

Step 1 - Select Scan Engine.

After pairing with the RS2 app, select Scan Engine. This will run a monitor test for the Check Engine Light, and creates a report detailing your engine's specific problems.

Step 2 - Wait until the RS2 app reads the data from your vehicle.

The RS2 app will read the data from your vehicle, including the odometer.

Step 3 - Select Generate Report.

After your vehicle's odometer is read by the RS2 app, select Generate Report.

While generating the report, ensure your vehicle is turned to the ON position, and your mobile phone is close to your BLCKTEC 410.

Once the report is generated, a Done message will be shown on the screen.

Note: Your vehicle’s odometer mileage should automatically be recorded in the Odometer field.

Step 4 - View the Report Page.

The Report Page will appear after the RS2 app is done generating the report. It will show the number of codes found and a Results link that navigates to your codes in detail. To access the DTC codes list, select Results.

Step 5 - LED Colors.

A green LED indicates that all engine systems are running normally, which means that all emission monitors are active and performing their diagnostic testing, and no DTCs are present. The vehicle is ready for a Smog Check or Vehicle Emissions Inspection.

A yellow LED indicates that there is a possible problem in one or more of the vehicle’s systems that may prevent the vehicle from passing a Smog Check or Vehicle Emissions Inspection. Either a “PendingDTC is present, and/or some of the vehicle's emission monitors have not run their diagnostic testing.

A red LED indicates a problem in one or more of the vehicle’s systems that will prevent the vehicle from passing a Smog Check or Vehicle Emissions Inspection. The red LED is also used to show that DTC(s) are present as shown on RS2 app. In this case, the check engine light will light up on the vehicle's dashboard.
