RepairSolutions2: Setup Handheld OBD2 device with iPhone & iPad

Purpose:

To assist you with pairing your handheld OBD2 tool with the RS2 App on your iPhone or iPad.

Step 1 - Get the RepairSolutions2 App.

On your iPhone or iPad, download the RS2 app. You can view the app's information online here: iPhone App Store Alternatively, you can:

  1. Open your App Store app on your mobile device.
  2. Search for RepairSolutions2.
  3. Select the download button to begin downloading the app.

Step 2 - Open the App.

Look for the RepairSolutions2 app icon and select it.

Step 3 - Create an Account.

Once installed, open the App and create your account, you will need:

  • Email
  • New Password
  • Zip or Postal Code

Read and check the box I agree to the EULA/Terms and Privacy Policy. After completing these steps, select Continue.

Step 4 - Proceed to App.

If you have a compatible OBD2 scan tool, select Yes to begin connecting your app to your OBD2 scan tool.

Step 5 - Connect to Bluetooth.

A Bluetooth connection is required for your app to work with your handheld OBD2 device. If this Bluetooth popup appears, select OK.

Note: Always make sure your Bluetooth is turned on before you begin pairing your device and while performing a scan using your OBD2 device.

Step 6 - Plug in your Handheld OBD2 into your Vehicle.

If you are not sure where to plug your scan tool device into your vehicle, select the options Show me where at the bottom of the description to find your OBD2 DLC Port.

Step 7 - Turn the Vehicle On.

Turn your vehicle to the ON position. You do not need to start your vehicle.

On this screen:

  1. Check all three boxes once your Bluetooth is on, your OBD2 device is plugged into your vehicle, and your car ignition is turned on. 
  2. Select Continue.

Step 8 - Pairing to your Handheld OBD2 Device.

Wait for the app to search for your handheld OBD2 device. Select your device once it appears on the list.

Give your OBD2 device a moment to pair with the app.

Once the Success prompt appears in the app, select Continue.

Step 9 - Uploading Report.

Once your scan tool is paired with the app, the data from your tool will automatically transfer and create a report in the RepairSolutions2 app.

Note: If the data does not automatically transfer, keep the app open and the tool plugged into your vehicle, then select Relink on your handheld.

Step 10 - Final Steps.

In some vehicles, the app will not be able to pull data needed to create your report. In those cases, you may be prompted to submit relevant information such as your mileage and where you purchased your scan tool as shown in the following images.

Enter the retailer you purchased the tool from, which should be Amazon. After entering the retailer, the next step is to select Unit of measurement. standard (miles) or metric (kilometers).
